Happy Winter Solstice! Well, Yesterday..

We have a holiday tradition of letting the kids open one gift on Winter Solstice (I'm pagan and like to at least acknowledge the pagan holidays). Addison opened the gift from his uncle - it was a new lens for his camera. He's really becoming an amazing photographer, I should post some of his pictures here. Amy opened a gift from us and got a new Gap hoodie.

We baked cookies all weekend and wrapped a bunch up for Rachelle's employees (I'm not gonna do the RCB thing anymore...it's annoying and I forget sometimes and have to go back, so just don't stalk us, K?). It was really fun to cook with the kids, Amy helped the most - she became a cookie making machine!! When the timer went off she was right there taking them out, and ready to put more blobs of dough on the cookie sheet. It's so neat to have older kids, they're so self-sufficient. They do their own laundry (usually, although there are usually bits of paper from their pockets on the floor in front of the dryer when they're done), make their own breakfast (granted it's usually cereal, but still...), wake up for school and get ready on their own, etc. As it gets closer to having babies again I'm reminded of how dependant babies are and how much I had to do for Addison and Amy when they were babies. All the diapers, bottles, shoes needing to be put back on in the grocery store, cleaning up thrown food, etc. But there were so many good times - a warm baby asleep on your tummy, the first laugh, first real smile, dressing them however you want, I can't wait to experience this again. Times two!!
